What we collect, why, and the choices you have. Effective October 1, 2026.
The Hockey Gods (thehockeygods.com) is a hockey education and entertainment website. We collect as little information as we can, and we never sell it.
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site: which pages are read, how people find us (for example, from a search engine or social media), and general information such as device type, browser, and approximate location (city or region). Google Analytics uses cookies to do this. It does not tell us who you are. You can learn how Google uses this information in Google's explanation, and you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
The Hockey Gods is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. When you click a link to Amazon from our site, Amazon may use cookies to record that you came from us, so we can earn a commission on qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. Amazon's handling of your information is covered by Amazon's Privacy Notice.
If you enter one of our photo contests, we collect the nickname, email address, caption, and photo you submit. Your nickname, caption, and photo are shown publicly if your entry is approved. Your email address is never shown publicly; we use it only to contact you about your entry. Photos are processed when uploaded, which removes hidden camera data such as location. To prevent cheating, voting uses a cookie in your browser, and we store an anonymized (scrambled) form of IP addresses rather than the addresses themselves. See the contest rules for details.
Our pages link to our Facebook and Instagram accounts. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which apply when you visit them.
The Hockey Gods is a general-audience site and is not directed to children under 13. Our photo contests are open only to adults 18 and older, and photos showing anyone under 18 are not accepted.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on above, and ask us to remove a contest entry at any time.
Questions about this policy, or want a contest entry removed? Email us at admin@thehockeygods.com. You can also send us a message on Facebook or Instagram.
If we change this policy, we'll update it on this page and change the effective date above.
